We want to let you know that all of us at Ekta-Unity are thinking of you. We are living in challenging times and we hope that you and your families stay safe and well in the coming days, weeks and months.
We have received many calls and messages from many of you saying that you are missing the group.
We are doing everything we can to maintain contact with you all through phone calls, text & wattsapp messages and through our Ekta-Unity Facebook Page during this global health pandemic of Covid-19 (Corona Virus)
As part of our wellbeing activities for you all, the recent Ekta-Unity Care Pack contains activities that we hope will keep you active during the time you are at home and whilst our activities remain closed at St Paul’s Church Coventry.
Once you have completed any of the activities contained in the care pack, please do send your photographs/messages to us so that we can show your work to others, as this will inspire them also. The care pack includes:
1. Face Masks and Protective Gloves: Physical distancing, hand washing and respiratory hygiene, are the most important and effective measures we can all adopt to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Health Officials also say that there is some benefit in wearing facial masks and protective gloves when you leave the house and enter enclosed spaces, especially where physical distancing is more difficult and where there is a risk of close contact with multiple people you do not usually meet.
Whilst you are at home, this scrapbook will provide you a perfect way to write your thoughts and experiences of the time you spend at home during the lockdown, including putting any poems, shayaris, photos, art and craft activities into the scrapbook. This will create your very own memory book.
3. Weaving, Sewing and Knitting Activity:
It has been proved that doing these activities have positive health benefits, including lowering blood pressure, reducing depression, anxiety, loneliness and isolation and increases a sense of wellbeing.
4. Adult Picture Colouring Activity:
We have enclosed various different designs for you to colour in. Colouring goes beyond being just a fun activity, it is also very thereupeutic and will help you relax and reduce boredom and anxiety.
5. Sunflower Seeds: We have enclosed some sunflower seeds which you can plant in your garden or in a flowerpot inside your home. Gardening is great for the environment and for the wildlife – and its good for us too, as it make us feel better physically and socially and the real magic is that anyone, anywhere can enjoy the healing power that this activity brings.
If you need any help or support, please contact: Muna Chauhan (Vice Chair of Ekta-Unity) on: 07974320202, and she will ensure that one of our Trustees, Session Workers or Volunteers will get back to you to answer any queries you may have.
Thank you for doing your part to keep the community and health care team safe by staying at home. Remember by doing so, you are protecting the NHS and saving lives.
The next Care Pack will be posted to everyone in July.
