In a time of crisis, people tend to come together to fulfil a need. They say charity begins at home and Ekta-Unity’s Music Group Lead Session Worker Swaran Lota, together with our Volunteers and Service Users have taken to their sewing machines to sew handmade PPE equipment for NHS Front line staff, friends and family who wish to add an extra barrier of protection from COVID-19.
The desire to help has been overwhelming, with individuals sewing and knitting and even digging into their own stockpiles or even buying material themselves to keep going. It’s really touching and amazing. For Ekta-Unity’s service users – our social media, conference call facility and watts app messaging has become a means of sharing ideas, motivation, thank you posts and general solidarity between each other in this trying time. At times it has been overwhelming, but the ‘can-do’ attitude keeps everyone motivated.
