We hold weekly Sessions focussing on activities which bring communities together.
The yoga & meditation sessions take place every Monday 11am – 12.30pm at our base, St Paul’s Church. They are taught by an experienced, qualified & dedicated yoga tutor. The sessions include teaching techniques of controlling mind and body, combination of breathing exercises, postures, meditation and relaxation.
We ensure that the sessions take place in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and everyone is supported to do exercises according their physical ability, which also include chair-based exercises. It is very pleasing to see that people with disabilities and wheelchair users join in to do exercises as much as they can.
These sessions also take place on Mondays, 12.45 - 2.30pm, at St Paul’s Church, with a focus on supporting users to improve their wellbeing. The sessions include topic-based discussions, specialist speakers, providing information, raising awareness, and tailor-made practical activities. We encourage everyone to join in group activities, which help to improve confidence and self-esteem.
The topics we cover during these sessions are, for example: raising awareness of osteoporosis, oral health, stroke, diabetes, coronary heart disease, depression, anxiety, eye care, healthy eating cultural issues, and activities such as ball games, gidha & bolian, riddles & bujhartans etc.
